There are 2 main types of community. A community of geography- people who have a connection because of where they live. A community of interest- people who come together because they have something in common e.g. age, parenting, gender.

People become a community when complex connections and activities have taken place. Strengthening these connections is known as community development. This is carried out by members of a community, if the community need help or lack experience to take projects forward they would employ the services of a Community Education worker. 

As communities work together they share common bonds, they build trust, this is known as social capital. Improved social capital leads to healthier, stronger communities. For more information I can be contacted by phone or e-mail.
